Roger will host a guided trip to one of Beijing’s “industry only” antique furniture markets to see “furniture in the raw”, with the chance to pick out unrestored furniture for later restoration. Roger is well known for these trips and will take you to places that other furniture dealers would like to keep secret.

Roger will discuss the main points buyers must assess when purchasing or custom building antique Chinese style reproduction furniture. Topics will include carpentry and joinery aspects, proper use of quality materials, finishing details and general workmanship. We will also look at what causes cracking, and why pieces do not always come out as intended.
