A Chinese Zitan wood lotus-shaped lobed tea jar with cover

This jar has a deep ebony sheen which does not present accurately in photos. Its material is heavy and dense which allows for fine detailing and exquisite elegant form. In fact, this design derives its form from lacquerware containers of the Song & Yuan dynasties. The dense heavy hardwood makes these jars the ideal environment in which to store tea. Carved from solid pieces of wood.
