Description:
A Chinese six lobbed shark skin (shagreen) brush pot. Constructed from 6 pieces of wood, of the same size which are tightly assembled and then lacquered and covered in sharkskin. I occasionally (although rarely) have seen brush pots of this style in domestic Chinese auctions. However, I have yet to see one abroad. Perhaps few left China or perhaps these are rare enough items.

Condition: Good condition. Minor scratches interior and bottom. The bottom of this pot has been cleaned and (may) have been given a coat of Urushi (Japanese term for lacquer).
